SUBMITTING A DEMO

FIRSTLY, if you're looking for somebody to invest monetarily in your project, then read no further.  Cauldron Soundwerx can help you release physical CD's and arrange digital downloads.  We can also HELP with promotion on our website and with some of our industry friends.  We only want bands that have decent track records and their shit together, basically.

We don't have a lot of money, especially to invest in bands with little or no track record.

Cauldron Soundwerx is not a genera-specific label.  Some examples of music we like are

Alternative, Electronica, Rock, Metal, Punk Rock, Techno, Industrial, Gothic, Darkwave, Shoegaze, Psychedelic, '80's-Inspired "New Wave", Post Punk, Ambient & Experimental, Folk, Reggae, Acoustic, Funk & Soul.

DO NOT send us:

Classic Rock, Country, Hip Hop or Rap, or R&B, or anything remotely resembling music on American or British Idol, or America/Britain Has Talent!!!!

Tips: To make the most impact with your demo in all your presentations remember the following tips.

1) Always send the best quality recording you have. If you are a songwriter and not a performer you may be able to get away with a rough recording but for performers the quality of the performance is key to a successful presentation.  If you have a home studio, make good use of it!  We can understand some production deficiencies, and can help in that area, but just do the best you can.

2) Present yourself professionally. To be taken seriously you must show that you can present yourself well. Artists can be difficult to manage and labels usually like people who handle themselves in a businesslike manner (at least between gigs).  We only want bands that are willing to do a lot of work for themselves.

3) Promote yourself as much as possible. Many bands don't do much to achieve success, leaving that to the record label or managers. Although CS is well-prepared to help on this front (unlike many other labels) — it is always important to promote your music personally. If you don't believe in it then who will?

4) Try to send a finished or near finished product.  What is is you want help in releasing.  Consider what you're sending as an example.  Labels like to see you can deliver a professional sounding finished product or idea.  Don't submit a work in progress as a rule of thumb, but just make it as professional looking and sounding as you can.

5) Include a press kit with your submission if possible. If you have been in the press then send any copies you have with your submission. Photos need not be artistic or professional but need to clearly depict the band members, if possible.

6) Send us a message introducing yourself, letting us know it's on the way.
